Morehouse Healthcare Announces New EMR System Rollout

TDC selected to develop staff and patient communications promoting Epic medical records system

Washington, DC, November 3, 2017—It was announced today by David Franek, president and chief creative officer of The Design Channel (TDC), that Morehouse Healthcare of Atlanta, GA has enlisted the agency to provide communications support for the clinical practice’s upcoming installation of the Epic electronic medical records (EMR) platform.

“The Epic system is today’s gold standard in EMR, and it’s not surprising that Morehouse Healthcare is adopting it,” said Franek. “We’ve had the privilege of working with Morehouse on a number of assignments in recent years and we’re pleased that Morehouse has re-engaged us to help spread the word among its staff and to patients.”

Morehouse Healthcare is already in the process of transitioning from its legacy EMR to Epic. When the new system is in place, it will allow comprehensive access to all patient medical records, including lab tests, medical imaging, prescriptions, vaccinations, physician referrals, and more. In addition, it will enable Morehouse to share access to these records with its Atlanta-area clinical partners, including Grady Memorial Hospital, Piedmont Healthcare, and Emory Healthcare.

The EMR communications program will consist of an internal campaign among Morehouse Healthcare staff as well as an external component aimed at patients. The internal campaign will feature vests and buttons that identify ‘super user” staff members that have been trained on Epic and can answer questions about the system. The patient campaign will include posters in Morehouse Healthcare patient care locations that highlight the benefits of Epic and promote sign-up for the MyChart patient portal linked with the Epic system on the Morehouse Healthcare website; a postcard promoting MyChart registration; as well as various giveaways to patients who sign up for MyChart.
