Longest Established Non-Sectarian Independent School in the U.S. Calls on TDC for Rebranding

Germantown Academy seeking more distinctive and impactful brand voice

Washington, DC, July 20, 2016—David Franek, president and chief creative officer of The Design Channel (TDC), announced today that Germantown Academy of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, has tapped TDC to coordinate and implement a rebranding and repositioning effort for the school. Founded in 1759, Germantown Academy is the the oldest non-sectarian independent Pre-K to 12th grade schools in the nation and serves students from 96 area towns representing Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, Chester, and Philadelphia counties.

Franek said, “Germantown Academy is one of the most distinguished private schools in the country and it is an honor to have the opportunity to strengthen its brand presence. We are looking forward to having a dialogue with the school’s leadership, faculty, current parent and alumni parent communities, and donors to gain insights that can help us develop a brand platform that engages families and continues to resonate for years to come.” TDC will also conduct a brand benchmarking study of like-minded schools in Germantown Academy’s area to assess competitors’ messaging and communications practices.

In addition to an in-depth discovery phase, TDC will synthesize the findings, craft a positioning statement, develop a message platform, and establish creative direction for branded communications and a new brand identity for the school. The program will commence immediately and run through November of this year.
