Foundation Enlists Channel Team to Help Promote Tobacco-Free Living among Youth

Agency makes wide scope of services available to Virginia Foundation for Healthier Youth

Washington, DC, September 14, 2016—Cory Farrugia, principal of The Channel Team, announced that the firm will be providing its services to the Virginia Foundation for Healthier Youth (VFHY) to support the organization’s efforts in reducing tobacco product use among children and teens throughout Virginia.

The services will augment current online and digital prevention initiatives being implemented by VFHY and may include website development, content management, social and digital media development, web metric analysis, digital media buying, strategic panning, and graphic design.

“We’re pleased to establish this relationship with an organization that provides a much-needed voice for preventing and reducing unhealthy lifestyle choices among young individuals,” said Farrugia. “We’re looking forward to applying our experience and resources to support this cause as soon as possible.”

Channel initiated its engagement with VFHY in recent weeks by enhancing the look and feel of an information sheet and PowerPoint presentation that highlight little-known dangers of common tobacco-related products such as cigars, smokeless tobacco, hookahs, and e-cigarettes. The Channel Team will make its above mentioned services available to VFHY under the current agreement through June 30, 2017.

About VFHY

The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth was established by the Virginia General Assembly in 1999 to lead statewide efforts to prevent and minimize youth tobacco use and childhood obesity. The foundation distributes funds from the Virginia Tobacco Settlement Fund through educational and awareness programs on the health effects of tobacco use, and enforcement of laws restricting distribution of tobacco products to minors. VFHY’s classroom-based prevention programs reach approximately 50,000 children statewide in public schools, preschools, houses of faith, community centers, and after-school programs.
