Nursing School Association Taps TDC for Communications Support

AACN seeks greater engagement among members for academic nursing advancement

Washington, DC, December 5, 2016—David Franek, president and chief creative officer of The Design Channel (TDC) announced that the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) has selected the firm to develop a communications and messaging platform for a major report conducted by the association. The report, “Advancing Healthcare Transformation: A New Era for Academic Nursing,” outlines a broad vision for the roles of nursing professionals in taking greater leadership, expanding education, and helping to shape research in the rapidly changing national healthcare landscape.

“The New Era report paints an exciting future for the elevation of academic nursing in the near future,” said Franek. “It provides deans of nursing schools, chief nursing officers, and academic administrators with a blueprint of the vast opportunities for nurses to expand their influence on patient care. We look forward to assisting AACN in effectively communicating how all nursing colleges have a role in this future and how AACN can support their engagement.”

TDC will conduct a two-phase program for this assignment. The first phase will revolve around the creation of a sub-brand for “academic nursing” and include interviews and focus groups among AACN internal stakeholders and member institution representatives. Findings from this discovery process will inform the development of a positioning strategy, signature line, messaging platform, logo, and microsite. The second phase will incorporate the assets developed in Phase 1 in a campaign to spur response and engagement from member colleges. The campaign is anticipated to launch in early 2017.
